For what you pay to live here in Monmouth County, you can have a mega mansion in some parts of Pennsylvania!
Thanks to Red Bank Green for pointing this out to me.
As much as I realize and accept that it is crazy expensive to live in this state, it still pains me. I work hard, so does my fiance. We are certainly NOT poor, but yet we can’t really afford a decent house because the prices are too high. In my preliminary research, maybe we could afford something for 300K. In Red Bank, that would buy us a house we would have to put considerable work into. Neither of us are handy people. So we’re not looking for a”fixer upper”.
It might get us a condo that is in decent shape, though. I dunno. I need to talk to a realtor to be sure. It just seems ridiculous to pay 300k for a 1 bedroom condo, though. For that much, I’d want it to have considerable upgrades and renovations.
I recently met Joyce Tabachnick. Very nice lady and apparently quite the local real estate maven! She is going to come speak at the Jersey Shore Webgrrls “Women Entrepreneurs of the Jersey Shore” event we’re putting on at the end of the month. I think I will have to cozy up to her and start exploring the option of home/townhome ownership. I really hope she can help. *fingers crossed*
