I got an email yesterday from a VJ Carbone, who I’m guessing is some sort of PR/spokesperson for a new home design and gift store on Mechanic Street. He offered a description and some photographs since it appears their all-flash website is still under construction, so you won’t find much info there. Note: designing an all-flash website is not good internet marketing strategy. Search engines have a hard time spidering through flash.
Nestled in the heart of the New Jersey Shore’s historic city of Red Bank stands a special shop waiting to be discovered, Bodega Shoppe.
This gem, which takes its name from the New York City corner markets that sell “a little bit of everything” does just that. Offering a wide variety of merchandise, this specialty shop focuses on decoration and adornment of all kinds while mixing new and vintage pieces together. For the home, new delicate glassware sits among vintage mirrors from the 1940’s and select furnishings both vintage and contemporary. For the body, European fragrances and skincare share good company with sought after designers such as Orla Kiely. There is even a special section for the kids emphasizing the need for creativity – Handmade “decorate me” dolls and paint by number wallpaper are a must for any child’s playroom. For the home – Our favorite French 1920’s hand carved walnut vanity. Other standouts include stationery from London’s Lucy Jane Batchelor, of which Bodega Shoppe is the exclusive US retailer; Maribelle Chocolate and Teas; Fine etched glassware; Interior Design Services and more.

Bodega Shoppe is the brainchild of owner/designer and NJ native Mike Buess. Most currently Buess was the Director of Public Relations at NY’s esteemed antique jewelry house Doyle & Doyle.
For curiosities and merchandise produced by historic ateliers, Bodega Shoppe cannot be missed.
Bodega Shoppe is at: 15 Mechanic Street, Red Bank, NJ.

I’m gonna guess I can’t afford to shop here, but hey don’t let that stop YOU. If this place sounds up YOUR alley, by all means check it out. Let me know if you do!

I do like that chest of drawers
So do I, but it probably costs like $2k. lol
So Paula, let me get your opinion here. Do you think the guy (Mike?) in that picture is gay? My gaydar is going off. I might have to stop by and see if he’s looking for a fag hag. lol
Actually, since I’m moving into a nice new place, I need expert advice on how to dress up my new digs… but I’m on a shoestring budget! This is why I need a gay! They are fabulous at home decorating!
Pretty sure he is… lesbians are not very good at that home interior stuff… my house looks like Salvador Dali and Capitan Jack Black teamed up to decorate it.
[...] friend mike did these divine sketches. to think they went from his mind to reality. i have a feeling he thought it wasn’t going to [...]
