The Original SoupMan in Red Bank, NJ

It would figure I move out of town and the Original SoupMan(tm) moves in. I love soup, especially in the colder weather months. I will have to make a special trip back to Red Bank to check this place out. I’ve never tried OSM ever, so I’m going in with an open mind.

If you’re looking for a hearty breakfast, we highly recommend the Broadway Grill on Broad Street.  They offer all the usual breakfast items… pancakes, french toast, eggs, waffles, sausage, bacon, etc.

I had “The Revue” – French toast with strawberries, scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, and bacon.  The tasty scrambled eggs were very fluffy.  The potatoes were not your typical home fries, they were true chunks of potatoes roasted perfectly. All of it was spot on and delicious.

He had the O’Neill omelet – portabella mushroom, spinach, and swiss cheese along with roasted potatoes, sausage, and English muffin.  He raved about the omelet saying it was perfectly made.

Everything was quite yummy so if you haven’t tried the Broadway Grill for breakfast yet, do so!

My friend and I went to the Broadway Grill for lunch yesterday.  She opted for the goat cheese and walnut salad.  This time I had the jerk chicken salad.   It was crazy delicious!  They sure know how to make a salad there.

After lunch I gave her a quick tour of Broad Street, including Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash.  She’s a big Kevin Smith fan so she loved it.  After she made a few purchases, we walked down to Marine Park and then onto Riverview Gardens Park.  I was sure to point out Jon Bon Jovi’s manse. 😉

It was such a beautiful day, lots of people out and about enjoying the lovely weather.  Perfect day to play tour guide.  🙂

My guy and I decided to dine out in town tonight and he suggested the Broadway Grill. We’ve eaten there a few times and while the food is always fine, the service isn’t the greatest. Despite our young server forgetting his iced tea refill the first time he asked, it wasn’t too bad service-wise.

We had the grilled vegetable platter to start. It was quite yummy, especially the eggplant. I love anything eggplant, though. Our dinner salads were quite good! He had the chicken cobb salad and I opted for the BBQ salmon salad. I think that might be my new favorite salad now. I’m going to have to try to replicate it at home.

After dinner we decided to walk it off by heading down Broad, then onto Front, and to Riverview Gardens Park. It was a glorious night for a walk. I need to get out more now that nicer weather is here.

A friend is coming to visit tomorrow. It’s her first time to Red Bank. We’re going to do lunch. I think I might just take her to the Broadway Grill tomorrow. I think it’s too soon to have the BBQ salmon salad again, though. However, I will suggest she try it. 🙂

I read some comments over on Red Bank Green that leads me to believe that not too many people like the 2 Chinese restaurants we have here.  I must admit my experience with both have been underwhelming.

If I have to pick one here in town it would have to be China Moon.

While not great, it seems a bit better than Jade Garden.

Unless the restaurant is outstanding, I’d rather make my own than order out.  I love to cook and I’m good at it.  I often shop at the Crown Palace Asian Food Market up in Middletown.  I love Asian cuisine and I do a pretty good job of it at home. 🙂

I really want to try the Eurasian Eatery, though.  It’s a sit-down place on Monmouth Street.  Not really an Asian restaurant per se, but they offer some Asian fare.  I only hear good things about it.  So I must check it out sometime.

Broad Street Deli

I don’t go in as often as I like, but when I do I never have any complaints about the food or service.  Unfortunately I went in at the wrong time today… just as Red Bank Catholic was letting out!

Don’t they serve lunch anymore in schools?   I swear there were 30 kids in there today. Haha.

I got the Minestrone, it was was excellent.

On the walk back to the office I decided to take a picture of one of the friendly crossing guards.

And that’s my office building in the background there.

Red Bank Green reports that 3 high-end stores will be setting up shop in the old Garmany building. That’s 3 more stores I can’t afford to shop in. Woo hoo!

Update: One of those stores will be Tiffany!  Nice. 😉
